Spet2011

The first ever AutoTweetUp was held in September 2011 at the 7 Hotel Diner in Kent. Typing this in January 2015 I am still shocked by the support and turn out the event received. So firstly a huge thank you to everyone who came along to that first event…

I hope that you all found it interesting, useful and enjoyable. It was a bit of an experiment to bring together active twitter users, bloggers, manufacturers, PRs and brands and I think it all seemed to go smoothly.

I think we will all agree that Toyota and Lexus stole the show with a great turnout of some of the new and old cars they carry on their press fleet. The LFA is the only one in the UK and we truly were a privileged crowd to get to spend some time with it.

In the diner im not sure if any of us took on the rib challenge, perhaps the previous months winners score of 51 scared a few off. You will be very impressed to hear that a young lad in the diner did break the record with a staggering 52 ribs. The food and service was fantastic and a huge thanks to all the guys at the diner for making us feel welcome, if you don’t already make sure you follow them @7hoteldiner.

In the car park we were greeted by some great cars old and new, a special mention to @FergusMcIver’s stunning Toyota Corona, @original_Monty’s beastly and car alarm setting off TVR Tuscan R, @thelotusforums Lotus Evora, @TheCarGuru’s mega low miles Mercedes and a special mention to @momentumblog for making the trek on two wheels and @Popbangcolour for the distance award, driving all the way down from the Midlands.

I should also mention the goody bags (did you like them?) a big thanks to Seat UK, Audi, Michelin, Relentless and 7 Hotel Diner for supplying the treats.

So, thanks to you all for making this event the success it was and I look forward to chatting with you at the next one on October 12th at Dirty Martini in Covent Garden.

Keep an eye out on the website for updates, thoughts and new events, and thanks again. Feel free to make suggestions about how the event could be better.
